Ingredients and Steps

👨‍🍳 Cook ModeBig text, no distractions — for the stove

Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • White rice
  • Eggs
  • Beef stock
  • Butter
  • All-purpose flour
  • Soy sauce
  • Yellow onion

Steps

  1. 1Shape the ground beef into thick patties and season them with salt and pepper.
  2. 2Cook the patties in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes per side, until well browned and cooked through, then set them aside.
  3. 3In the same skillet, cook sliced onion for 4 minutes, until softened, then sprinkle in flour and stir to form a paste.
  4. 4Slowly whisk in the beef stock and a splash of soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  5. 5Simmer the gravy for 5 minutes, until it thickens slightly, then season with salt and pepper.
  6. 6Melt butter in a separate nonstick pan and fry the eggs over medium-low heat for 3 to 4 minutes, until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
  7. 7Scoop a generous mound of steamed white rice into each bowl.
  8. 8Place a beef patty on top of the rice and ladle the hot gravy generously over it.
  9. 9Finish each bowl with a fried egg on top so the yolk breaks over the dish when served.
