Loco Moco
Ingredients
- •Ground beef
- •White rice
- •Eggs
- •Beef stock
- •Butter
- •All-purpose flour
- •Soy sauce
- •Yellow onion
Steps
- 1Shape the ground beef into thick patties and season them with salt and pepper.
- 2Cook the patties in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes per side, until well browned and cooked through, then set them aside.
- 3In the same skillet, cook sliced onion for 4 minutes, until softened, then sprinkle in flour and stir to form a paste.
- 4Slowly whisk in the beef stock and a splash of soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- 5Simmer the gravy for 5 minutes, until it thickens slightly, then season with salt and pepper.
- 6Melt butter in a separate nonstick pan and fry the eggs over medium-low heat for 3 to 4 minutes, until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
- 7Scoop a generous mound of steamed white rice into each bowl.
- 8Place a beef patty on top of the rice and ladle the hot gravy generously over it.
- 9Finish each bowl with a fried egg on top so the yolk breaks over the dish when served.
